Cultural Insight |
Eric: Now it's time for a quick cultural insight. |
Hoang Anh: Khoẻ không? is not an everyday greeting. It’s actually only asked when you haven't met for a long time. We might also ask Vẫn khoẻ chứ? Meaning “You’re still doing well, right?" or Dạo này thế nào? Meaning “How’re you doing these days?” In response, you don’t say cảm ơn like in English; just answer directly saying, Tôi khoẻ meaning “I'm fine” or Tôi vẫn ổn meaning “I’m still doing well,” and ask how they’re doing. |
