| Hi, guys! Linh is back, and let’s say you were traveling in Vietnam and suddenly, some Vietnamese people approach you and ask you questions but you never prepared. So what would you do at that moment? Today, we will answer that question for you. 10 Questions You Should Know and Just Follow up. |
| 1. Tên bạn là gì? "What's your name?" |
| Tên bạn là gì? "What is your name?" And then you can just simply answer it. |
| Tên tôi là, plus your name. |
| Tên tôi là Linh. "My name is Linh." |
| Tên tôi là Nga. “My name is Nga.” |
| And this one sounds polite but actually, if you want to say in a shorter way or informal ways, then you can just say Tôi là plus your name. Then it’s fine. |
| Tôi là Linh. “I am Linh.” |
| Tôi là Nga. “I am Nga.” |
| And by the way, you can say also Rất vui được biết bạn. “It’s nice to meet you.” Or “It’s nice to know you.” |

| 2. Bạn từ đâu tới? "Where are you from?" |
| So the answer is very simple and short. |
| Tôi đến từ, plus your country. |
| Tôi đến từ Mỹ."I come from America." |
| Tôi đến từ Hàn Quốc. “I come from Korea.” |
| Tôi đến từ Nhật Bản. “I come from Japan.” |
| So normally if your city or your hometown is not really common as London or Paris, then it’s going to be a bit confused to Vietnamese people. So you better just introduce your country. Then it’s fine. |

| 3. Khi nào là sinh nhật của bạn? "When is your birthday?" |
| Okay, so you can also hear - Sinh nhật của bạn là khi nào? |
| So, Khi nào là sinh nhật của bạn and Sinh nhật của bạn là khi nào are similar. |
| And remember, sinh nhật is “birthday”; của bạn is “your”; của tôi is “mine.” |
| So, when you answer, you can just say, |
| Sinh nhật của tôi vào ngày mùng tám tháng ba. "My birthday is on the 8th March." |
| Sinh nhật của tôi vào ngày mùng tám tháng ba. |
| 4. Bạn sống ở đâu? "Where do you live?" |
| Bạn sống ở đâu? Tôi sống ở quận 1. |
| So actually when you translate this one to English, you will see Bạn sống ở đâu means “you live where.” So remember, the structure is a bit different with English. |

| And the answer, you can just replace Bạn by Tôi, and ở đâu by your address. Then, it’s fine. For example, |
| Tôi sống ở quận 1. "I live in District 1." |

| Bạn sống ở đâu? Tôi sống ở quận 1. |
| 5. Bạn làm việc ở đâu? "Where do you work?" |
| Bạn làm việc ở đâu? Okay, this one means “where do you work?” But actually it also means, “what do you do for living?” So it’s fine if you want to give more information or detail about your life or your jobs or you can just simply answer - Tôi làm việc cho một trung tâm tiếng Anh. "I work for an English center." |

| Or you can just say - Tôi là giáo viên. “I am a teacher.” |
| Tôi là giáo viên. |
| So simply say Tôi là, plus a job, then it’s fine. |
| Tôi là is “I am.” |
| So, Tôi là giáo viên. “I am a teacher.” |
| 6. Số điện thoại của bạn là gì? "What's your phone number?" |
| Okay. I think this one is a little bit personal question to ask, especially with someone that you just met or someone is not very close to you. So it’s really uncomfortable to share telephone number. So if someone asked you this one, then you can just answer, |
| Tôi chưa có sim điện thoại. "I haven't got my SIM card yet." |
| Tôi chưa có sim điện thoại. So this one is a good way to refuse, right? |
| 7. Bạn đã học tiếng Việt ở đâu? "Where did you learn Vietnamese?" |
| Okay, this one if you received this question, that means your Vietnamese really impressed Vietnamese people. So, you can just simply share that, Tôi đã học tiếng Việt trên mạng. "I studied Vietnamese online." |

| Or - Tôi đã học tiếng Việt tại VietnamesePod101.com. “I studied Vietnamese at VietnamesePod101.com |

| 8. Bạn đã từng đến Việt Nam chưa? "Have you been to Vietnam?" |
| Okay, so Bạn đã từng đến Việt Nam chưa? So if not, you can say - Chưa. Đây là lần đầu tiên tôi đến Việt Nam. "No, this is the first time I've been in Vietnam." |
| Chưa. Đây là lần đầu tiên tôi đến Việt Nam. |
| But if yes, then you can say - Có, trước đây tôi đã đến Việt Nam rồi. “Yes, I’ve been in Vietnam before.” |
| Có, trước đây tôi đã đến Việt Nam rồi. |
| Bạn đã đến Việt Nam chưa? Chưa, đây là lần đầu tiên tôi đến Việt Nam. |
| 9. Bạn có thích món ăn Việt Nam không? "Do you like Vietnamese food?" |
| Okay, don’t tell me that you don’t like Vietnamese food because Vietnamese food is really tasty, very fresh and very healthy. So all foreign friends of mine, they say that they love Vietnamese food. So if you ever tried Vietnamese food, you will say that Bún chả or Phở or Bánh mì are awesome. So you can answer, |
| Có, tôi rất thích món ăn Việt Nam. "Yes, I like Vietnamese food a lot." |
| 10. Bạn thích ăn món gì nhất? "What is your most favorite food?" |
| Okay, so it could be phở, it could be... oh my god, a lot. What should I choose? So for example, in my case, if I like bún chả a lot, then I can say, |
| Tôi thích ăn bún chả nhất. "I like grilled pork noodles the most." |
| Tôi thích ăn bún chả nhất |
| Or you can replace the name of the food by another one. |
| Tôi thích ăn phở nhất. |
| Tôi thích ăn lẩu ếch nhất. |
| Then it’s fine because you are speaking Vietnamese. So you should put Vietnamese name of the food because Vietnamese people will know it but if you say real pork noodles, then probably they don’t know that. So it’s fine if you can just try to study more Vietnamese food names. So, it’s good for you. |
