John: This is Must-Know Vietnamese Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 15. In this lesson, you'll learn popular and funny idioms.
John: Vietnamese people love humor, and they often use these phrases to refer to different events or subjects. However, don't forget to use them appropriately: at the right time, with the right people.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
John: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:

John: Nguyet, what's our first expression?
Nguyet: hàng tồn kho mất chìa khoá
John: literally meaning "the product which is unsellable, which was in the stock, but the key to the stock is lost, so there's less chance to sell that product." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to be on the shelf."

John: literally meaning "a brick phone." This slang refers to an old model or out-of-date phone, as it's often much heavier and bigger than new phone models these days." When it's used as a slang expression, it means "old model phone."

John: literally meaning "When you are feeling weak, do not stand in the wind." In Vietnamese culture, it's believed that "wind" can make you sick, according to Feng Shui. But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to not do things beyond what you can afford."
